What does our name mean?
Immanuel: We chose this name as an affirmation of our need to rely on Christ for our salvation, knowing that the great Immanuel ("God with us," Matthew 1:23) is our hope in this world and even now points us to the heavenly life that is ours if we embrace him as he is freely offered to us in the Bible.
Orthodox: The 16th century Protestant Reformation was a movement dedicated to renewing the church's obedience to the Word of God alone, renewing her understanding of God's majesty over all of life, and renewing her complete dependence on His saving love to us through faith alone in His Son Jesus Christ. We desire to be a continuing part of that renewal movement. The word "orthodox" simply indicates that we strive to be true to the original gospel message proclaimed in the Bible.
Presbyterian: The word Presbyterian means "ruled by elders" and indicates our structure as a church. Elders, who are elected from among the members of the congregation, govern our church.
Church: We are a community of Christians who worship the triune God together and who seek to minister the Word of God, the mercy and the compassion of Christ to a lost and needy world.
